Desaubian is a custom Debian-based operating system designed to experiment with configurations, tooling, and workflows while staying close to upstream Debian. This page explains what Desaubian is, how to get the ISO image, and the legal terms for using and redistributing it.

Desaubian aims to respect Debian’s trademark and branding guidelines. In particular, Desaubian:

  • Is clearly named and branded as “Desaubian,” not as “Debian” or an official Debian product.
  • Does not claim to be produced, approved, or maintained by the Debian Project.
  • Intends to remove or replace any artwork, logos, or branding that Debian requires to be changed for derivatives.

Licensing and Source Code

Desaubian is built from Debian packages and other free and open source software. Each component is distributed under its own license (for example, the GNU General Public License or other OSI-approved licenses). Where required by those licenses, the corresponding source code and license texts will be made available to users of Desaubian.
